Yevgeny Martynov began his skating journey at the age of four in Ukraine, then part of the Soviet Union. Trained under the intense and highly disciplined Soviet athletic system, he developed elite-level skills in both figure skating and hockey—setting the foundation for a lifelong career on the ice.
Recognized early for his exceptional skating ability, Yevgeny was recruited to one of the top youth hockey teams in the Soviet Union. Ultimately, he chose to pursue figure skating competitively, earning multiple Ukrainian National titles and representing his country at two Junior World Championships and numerous international events before the age of 18.
A graduate of Ukraine University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education (1997), Yevgeny moved to the U.S. in 2000 as a principal performer with Disney on Ice. Despite his success in figure skating, his true passion remained rooted in hockey.
In 2006, he launched the Skating for Hockey Agility Program—a high-performance training system that fuses the precision of figure skating with the demands of elite hockey. Drawing on his experience with the Soviet National Team, Yevgeny focuses on edge mastery, speed, balance, and agility, creating a distinct approach that goes far beyond traditional hockey conditioning.
His program transforms players into explosive, confident skaters with the technical edge and mental discipline to outpace the competition—on every shift, in every game.
